Does Acupuncture work?
Acupuncture does work. According to NIH which is also known as the National Institutes of Health (nation's medical research agency), it states that
"Research has shown that acupuncture may be helpful for several pain conditions, including back or neck pain, knee pain associated with osteoarthritis, and postoperative pain. It may also help relieve joint pain associated with the use of aromatase inhibitors, which are drugs used in people with breast cancer."
"In addition to pain conditions, acupuncture has also been studied for at least 50 other health problems. There is evidence that acupuncture may help relieve seasonal allergy symptoms, stress incontinence in women, and nausea and vomiting associated with cancer treatment. It may also help relieve symptoms and improve the quality of life in people with asthma, but it has not been shown to improve lung function. "
What is acupuncture and the benefit of acupuncture

-

-
Stress

Headaches/migraine
-
Seasonal allergies
-
Urinary Incontinence
-
Asthma

and many more.
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system to put the body in rest and digest mode and the central nervous system to release endorphins, enkephalins, and serotine for analgesic effects. It also causes micro-injury from the needle to promote blood circulation and bring healing factors to the local area.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Many patients do not consider acupuncture a painful procedure. Some patients feel a slight tingling/brief ache or heaviness in the area when the needle is inserted. However, most of the patients do not feel anything.
Instead, most patients find acupuncture treatment a deeply relaxing experience. At times, patients find acupuncture so relaxing that they fall asleep during treatment.
Are the needles safe?
Yes. Acupuncturists use sterile, disposable needles. They are used once and then disposed of in biohazard containers. These containers are sent to a medical waste management company for proper disposal according to federal laws and regulations.
